November Newsletter

This month, our FCCLA chapter has been very busy preparing members to compete in STAR events; STAR stands for Students Taking Action with Recognition. STAR events are competitive events chapter members can compete in for a chance

to be recognized at the district, state, and national level. There are over thirty events for students to choose from, including, interior design, fashion construction, sports nutrition, and many other events concerning Family and Consumer sciences.

Our chapter held a meeting to explain STAR events to interested members. Our Vice President of STAR organized a meeting to educate members; at the meeting members who competed in STAR last year discussed their experiences, and members were introduced to the different STAR events they could participate in. If students are interested in participating in STAR events, they need to plan to attend the next chapter meeting on November 30 at lunch or see Mrs. Vest. STAR event registration is due December 1.

The Nebraska Department of Education hosted their annual Commissioner’s Recognition Ceremony on Monday, November 14 at the State Capitol in Lincoln. Nebraska FCCLA’s 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams from National Leadership Competition were recognized. Andrew Hale was recognized by the Commissioner of Education and the Lieutenant Governor for his 1st place award in Fashion Construction at National FCCLA.

On Wednesday, Nov. 16, our chapter hosted a FCCLA at the table event, this event is designed to bring families together to learn about FCCLA. The meal was at Panera Bread and multiple families came together to socialize. The event was very successful and our chapter officers are very proud of the outcome!
