January Newsletter


FCCLA has been hard at work this month. Chapter members are continuing to revise their STAR projects, as District STAR was rescheduled for February 10, in Aurora.

Sophomore Emma Brewer is competing in Teach and Train. For her project she visited Kenwood, and taught a spelling lesson to a classroom full of first-grade students.

Sophomore Leslie Aspen is competing in Nutrition and Wellness for her event. In her project she examines the diets of wrestlers, and makes new and innovative nutrition plans for the athletes.

Juniors Emma Johnson and Claire Choplin are competing in Interpersonal Communications. For this event they will, create a speech about traffic safety and present it to a panel of judges.Junior Marina Peterson is competing in Promote and Publicize FCCLA. For her project she will include a description of FCCLA's plans to promote our chapter, as well as the technology used over the year.Junior Destiny Henne is participating in Chapter Website. She intends to create a website for the chapter that will include information about chapter officers, meeting announcements, and a general overview of FCCLA.Junior Mia Kegley is competing in Job Interview for her event. Mia will participate in a mock job interview, create a resume, and attend job shadowing opportunities.Senior Andrew Hale will be participating in Fashion Construction. Following his success in the event last year, Hale will create an original design to present to judges.

Our chapter is also preparing for FCCLA Week in February. We plan to create a large display board in one of the building's main hallways as a promotion campaign to spread the word about FCCLA. Our Chapter also plans to have themed dress up days for members to participate in.
